Description The Brooklyn Brewery is currently seeking weekday and weekend bar staff for its Brooklyn Tasting Room! We are a renowned industry icon and craft innovator, dedicated to brewing great beer and promoting diversity and inclusion within the craft beer community. Ideal applicants are beer enthusiasts who are excited to celebrate their passion with a broad spectrum of local and international visitors. Whether leading groups through our Brooklyn brewing facility, serving cold pints to our guests, or assisting in our company store, our Tasting Room staff are the face of the Brooklyn brand and an integral part of our daily operations. We encourage personable, enthusiastic beer fans of all backgrounds to apply! Candidates should be comfortable with a range of tasks and duties that include, but are not limited to:
- Leading 20 minute and 45 minute tours
- High volume bartending and serving
- Bussing, disposing of and recycling trash
- Changing kegs (the ability to lift or move 50+lbs is preferred, but not required)
- Cleaning the Tasting Room, ancillary event spaces, and bathrooms, including sweeping and mopping
- Restocking supplies
- Ringing up and processing payments
- Being actively engaged at tasks for long periods of time
- Creating and maintaining a friendly, safe environment for visitors and staff
Qualifications - Must be available for 2-3 full shifts a week
- As an ambassador for the Brooklyn Brewery and as someone who celebrates difference, you are friendly and committed to making all visitors feel welcome. We are actively seeking applicants with a strong background in hospitality and/or community engagement
- Must have a team mentality and an energetic work ethic. We are a pooled tip house and our team's prosperity relies on our trust and ability to depend on one another
- Have a developed knowledge of beer and the beer industry or genuine desire to learn. Training will be extensive and ongoing, so if you have a passion for beer with limited experience in the industry, we will provide the tools to expand your knowledge and skill set
- Have the ability to communicate clearly and can effectively engage guests while possessing a friendly sense of humor. Tour guides will explain the brewing process, relate our company history, and lead tastings. A background in improv, performance, or public speaking is exceptionally helpful, but not necessary
- While not a requirement, we are a destination for international tourists, so fluency in another language is a huge plus
- Preferred candidates will be enthusiastic, personable, and reliable teammates with a shared passion for good beer and celebrating diversity within the craft beer community.
