About The Job

The Mayor’s Office Director of Boards and Commissions is seeking an unpaid, part-time Intern. The intern will have exposure to the 130+ Boards and Commissions and the 1,200 appointees with the City and County of Denver. The intern will assist the Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions with updating the mayoral boards and commissions database. The intern would also assist in preparing information that will support the Mayor’s decisions regarding appointment. This opportunity is available from September-December 2024 for 15 weeks. This is a part-time internship requiring 16-20 hours per week during normal business hours which are 8:00am – 5:00pm. Hours/schedule are flexible but this position is IN-PERSON.

The intern will experience a fast-paced, professional environment specific to mayoral boards, office administration, and special projects and will learn about the Mayor and his initiatives and Denver municipal government and public service. The Intern will be trained in formal and informal training sessions. They will report to the and work closely with the Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience some or all of the following:

  • Organizing, tracking, and filing applicants into Salesforce
  • Communicating, and providing updates to candidates on the status of applications
  • Coordinating and scheduling interviews for candidates
  • Providing customer service to candidates via telephone
  • Resolve candidate questions and guiding them through processes.
  • Communicating and collaborate with the Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions and Senior Advisor of Community Partnerships
  • Attending boards and commissions meetings under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Boards and Commissions
  • Additional administrative projects using MS Office suite as assigned.
  • Special projects and other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or requested.

About You

  • Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce proficiency
  • Can receive and communicate information clearly and concisely; both verbally and written.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Can manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • The ability to communicate and work with others.
  • Experience in data entry and administrative organization
  • Have a positive attitude and strong desire to serve the citizens of the City and County of Denver
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Location Flexibility

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the field several days a week and telecommute remotely at a designated workplace within the State of Colorado the remaining days.

This is a unpaid Internship.
