Summary
\nPerforms various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist. Prepares microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic/research purposes; performs tissue stains to assist in diagnosis; handles specimen accessioning; maintains laboratory and equipment. Reviews quality control, performs operational duties, maintenance and troubleshooting of histology instruments and equipment.
\nEducations:
\n\n Required: Completion of training in an NCCLS-approved histology technician program\n\n\n Preferred: Bachelor’s or associate degree\n\n\n \n\n\n Experience: \n\n\n Preferred: 1 year experience as Histotechnician\n\n\n \n\n\n Certification: \n\n\n Required: State licensure where required\n\n\n \n\n\n Preferred: Histotechnician certification through ASCP (or equivalent)\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n #LI-SC1Baptist Health System - San Antonio Job ID #2305048846-2.
